Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0
I have installed (or at least I think I have installed) Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 on my Intel Mac Mini. I have followed the installation instructions and the serial number on the box was accepted for loading the Adobe files onto the Mac’s hard disk.

Cons: High power computer reqiurements new egg failed to post in specs so I will post for you. This relates to the premiere elements half: Intel Pentium 4,M,D,or EE,or AMD Opteron or Athalon 64(sse2 reqired) all vers of xp sp2 256meg ram 4GB hd avail. various firewire/usb2 interface compatable. direct X 9 compatible sound card and display drivers.

Other Thoughts: to the person below me, i am using integrated sound and it works fine, its the integrated sound card on a Abit AA8 duramax (dont know what it exaclty is and dont feel like looking it up. i have nno idea what u are talking about

Cons: Beware! That Athlon XP you upgraded to last year won't run the Premiere portion of this software. It's not a performance issue, it will not even install. Google around 'SSE2' and you'll see that someone at Adobe wants to penalize AMD fans. If true performance were their goal, they'd have written the code for 64 bit processing, not an Intel crutch code. Maximum PC forgot to mention this little detail when they rated this product a 9-KA product.

Pros: none - I couldn't get it installed. They never mentioned that it requires a sound card that supports ASIO to work
Cons: Adobe never included a sound card which supports ASIO as a requirement. If your sound card supports it, this may be a very good product. If your computer has a sound card built into the motherboard, such as SoundMax, this product will not work.
Other Thoughts: Make sure you actually have a pc with enough power to use this software. Don't bother trying to run it with 256mb of ram or less. Also if your going to do a big project (converting home movies to dvd) make sure you have enough free disk space.

Rarely do I encounter a piece of software so well designed that words fail me (at least until my editor pointed out that she wouldn't pay me for a 'words failed me' review). So, I'll say this: if you need a phenomenal image editor and organizer package, buy Adobe Photoshop Elements 4. And if you're thinking of taking up video editing, get the bundle with Adobe Premiere Elements 2.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 is more than just a scaled-down version of Adobe Photoshop. Aside from the fact it makes the feature set and interface comprehensible to non-graphic-designer types, the program incorporates automatic image enhancements and extremely intelligent selection tools that are missing in Photoshop. However, Photoshop users will find both the tools and the features familiar in both appearance and effect. I actually prefer Elements 4 for editing photos--it's a bit easier to browse around and perform quick fixes. And though it's a tiny bit sluggish, especially when loading the different work spaces, we turn to Photoshop only for batch operations or sophisticated color correction. Alas, this version drops Windows 2000 support, and the Mac version is 'in the works.' Otherwise, Elements is just about perfect for Windows XP users.
