Epson is a major printer manufacturer that produces a wide range of laser and inkjet printers. The printers are functional for home and business use, and they come with instruction manuals and online support. Using the reset feature is a common need to clear a jam, clear a queue or to work through a different set of troubleshooting issues. Not all models have a reset button, but they all have a process to reset the printer.
Do You Need a Reset?
Before you jump to reset the printer, first check for other solutions. For example, a reset will not clear a paper jam, because a paper jam is a physical problem. In this case, you must access the paper tray and physically remove the jammed page. Once removed, select Resume the job, and your printer will continue printing.
Modern Epson printers are excellent at sensing when a paper jam has occurred, and the printer will wait for for the jam to clear before it resumes the job. Paper jams are usually an easy fix that do not justify a full reset process. Just dig in and clear the jam with your hands.
Another common issue is a simple lag or a slowdown because the software has become overloaded with jobs. If you choose to print the document multiple times, it will build up a backlog of jobs, and this may cause the printer to delay printing the backlog. In this case, you can view the task pane on the printer and delete any unnecessary jobs. Then, press Resume to continue working through the backlog.
If this process fails, then clear the entire log and run through the next power cycle option before executing an actual Epson printer resetter process.
Run a Power Cycle
The power option is not technically a reset, but the process is simple and quick. The process can repair a surprising number of problems, simply by creating a fresh slate for the printer. Sometimes, the power cycle will clear the processing jobs, and in other cases, it will reload those jobs.
Pull the power cord on the printer to turn it off, and then wait for a few minutes. While you are waiting, run a restart on the primary computer that's also linked to the printer. Plug everything back into power and check to see if your problem is resolved.
Epson Printer IP Address
If the printer is not receiving jobs from the computer, you likely have a communication error between the two points of contact. Check the wireless settings or the Ethernet connection to ensure a clear line of communication is open. A hard reset will not help if the wireless or hard line connection is down.
Resetting the IP address is a common fix for communication errors. The IP might shift and devices connected to the printer will no longer communicate well. Locate the back of the printer where the power cable and Ethernet ports are located. A pinhole is located in this region to reset the connection. It will restore the factory IP address.
Use a paperclip to pres the button and hold it for several seconds. This will t*rigger the reset requir*ed for the IP address. If your printer does not have this option, you may need to reset the IP address from the computer by accessing the printer settings.
Reset Button Models
Locate the control panel of your Epson printer. It is usually on the top right-hand side of your printer, near any digital display screen that the printer may have, and where the button used to turn the computer on and off is also located.
Find the button marked Pause/Reset on the row of buttons on the control panel. Press and hold the button down for at least three seconds to clear the print job and reset your printer so you can start printing again.
Try printing again. Repeat the process one time if you still experience printer errors. Update your drivers and check your document for errors if you still are unable to print. Outlook recover ost.
Maintenance Reset Utility
This is a common problem that often frustrates users. The maintenance utility is a built-in function that prevents printing when the mechanical parts are worn out. Basically, the lifespan of the parts is ending and the print quality can no longer maintain. The printer will show a maintenance error mode and cease operations.
At this point, you can run a single maintenance utility to reset the printer. It will not allow you to repeat this reset process more than once, and you will need to replace internal parts or the printer itself after the error message returns.
To run the maintenance reset utility, locate the link below the error message on your computer. Click the reset link to restore operations. After the error returns, you can have the printer serviced at an Epson care center, if desired.
Download New Drivers
Download a new set of drivers directly from the Epson support page and install them on your computer if you experience persistent printer errors. Updating the software you use to create documents and being careful not to print documents that show any error or out-of-memory messages on the screen also helps prevent printer errors.
Some older printers enable you to upload special font settings by holding the 'Alt' key on the control panel down along with the reset button. Consult your owner's manual to find out more about the 'Alt' key on these models, most of which are laser printers.
Recycling the Printer
If the printer is constantly failing and is beyond the repair of a reset, it may be time to upgrade. It helps to check with an Epson Approved Care Center for repairs, but always weigh the costs against the price of a new model. It may be time for an upgrade, especially if you run a print heavy business or office.
The same Epson adjustment program care center can likely recycle the printer. Do not ever throw a printer directly into the trash. Thy contain electronic components that leech into the environment in landfills. Your local city or county will have approved recycling drop off locations. Many areas will also have recycling events specifically for electronics.
The same recycling principles apply to all of your electronic devices.: cell phones, television sets, tablets, computers and printers all belong in the recycling process and not in the local landfills, where they pollute the groundwater and ecosystems.
