So I just started at a new shop as their database developer, and my boss is wanting to get me a copy of SQL Compare, since they've used it in the office before. However, I've always just used schema compare from within VS, and from my research, I can't justify spending the $$$ to pick it up. We aren't a SQL Toolbelt shop, so there is no integration to their source control like it talks about on their website.

Am I missing something, and this product is indeed worth the $495+ price tag, or is it just overpriced Redgate stuff?
Red Gate's SQL Compare is a product I have used for years and I love the latest version. Data and Schema Compare tools are very expensive!There are much cheaper alternative, But I am thinking in the short term the purchase would hurt but in the long term it would more than pay for itself in lots of ways.
